Over recent years, the Dream Big Sports team have worked to engage with young people of all ages across our huge range of programmes that are available to local communities, from specialist Physical Education lessons in primary schools to employment workshops via our Community Coaching Academy. All of which is delivered with our company mission in mind: To ignite a passion for physical education, physical activity and sport in the next generation of young people whilst re-investing into greater opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
We are extremely proud to share that we have taken another step closer to achieving this mission with the recent news that our application for funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) has been approved and we are ready to begin delivery of our Ignite Coaching Academy across the city of Manchester!
Our funded project complements and enhances current NEET provision across the city and is primarily focused on connecting with vulnerable young people aged 15-18 years who are disengaged from mainstream education, work and skills services with a clear aim to build pride in place and increase life chances in the area with 45+ individuals benefiting from our provision over the next 6 months.
Our “Ignite” programme will be delivered as a three-day intensive programme with a core focus on community sport & leadership skills development with sessions based on:
- Team Building & Social Skills
- Careers in Sport
- Personal Development
- Employment Ready
In addition, we will ensure participants leave our programme with something tangible that will allow them to take their first steps into employment within the sport & physical activity sector which will be achieved through the delivery of industry recognised qualifications, equipping learners with the fundamental skills and knowledge of sports coaching as well as building confidence leading activities for others in a community setting.
Director, Dillan O’Connor, said: “Recently, we have made great strides with our Training & CPD offer, being recognised as a leading provider across various local authorities and this recent funding award from Manchester City Council and UKSPF is another fantastic example of this. We have seen first hand how valuable and powerful our Coaching Academy programme can be through previous delivery so we are extremely excited to be able to expand this offer across Manchester, supporting young people to take their steps into a career in the sector, regardless of their background or personal circumstances.”
